Ronald "Ron" Duane Adkins age 77 of Plattsmouth, NE passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Hillcrest Health Plaza in Bellevue, NE.
He was born on September 26, 1940 to Theodore Emerson and Louise Josephine (Chase) Adkins in Omaha, NE. Ron was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and he graduated from Plattsmouth High School with the class of 1958. After graduating from high school, Ron worked on the bridge crew for Cass County and then he was a truck driver for Lyman Richey Sand and Gravel. He met Imogene (Anderson) Cross and they were later married on July 19, 1961 in Scribner, NE. Ron and Imogene made their home and raised their children in Murray and Plattsmouth. Then he worked as a machinist at Allied Chemical in La Platte, NE. Later, Ron was a bus driver for Plattsmouth Community Schools.
He is survived by his two sons: James Adkins and wife Lynnette of Plattsmouth, NE; Kenneth Adkins of Plattsmouth, NE; two daughters: Sandra McCurdy and husband Dale of Glenwood, IA; Cathlean Goodman Glenwood, IA; fourteen grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; brother: Louis Austin and wife Lola of Wahoo, NE; nephew: Theodore Moulas of Big Springs, TX; numerous cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Theodore Adkins, mother: Louise Adkins-Austin, step-father: Ed Austin, daughter: C. Robin Adkins, wife: Imogene Adkins, daughter-in-law Leslie Adkins, two brothers: Larry Adkins and Harvey Austin, and two sisters: Delores Moulas and Marge Mink.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
His Final Resting Place will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
