Mr. Harold Eugene "Gene" Sivard, Jr.

Harold Eugene Sivard, Jr. passed away on December 28, 2017 at his home, east of Cedar Creek, Nebraska, having, attained the age of 60 years, 7 months and 7 days.
Affectionately known as "The Veggie Man", Gene was born at Springfield Massachusetts, on May 21, 1957. He was raised and schooled in several different locals, as his Father was in The United States Air Force. Gene graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1975. After graduating from High School, Gene entered the United States Air Force Reserves, on August 13, 1975. While in the US Air Force Reserves, Gene was employed at an event center, as part of the set up crew. In 1990, Gene moved his family to Plattsmouth, to be near his father, who had been stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. Gene worked at B & B Orchard, which was owned by Bernice and Bob Falberg, where he was instrumental in their day to day operation. Gene was also at this time, a mentor to youngsters who worked at, and visited the orchard, helping them to learn about agriculture and growing garden produce. He had a knack for growing vegetables and truly had a green thumb. Gene was a pioneer, in the concept the Farmers Markets, and sold his produce in the surrounding cities and towns of eastern Nebraska. In 1990 Gene started his own produce business, which he called "Gene's Green Thumb".
Gene was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
He is survived by Mary Page of Cedar Creek, one son, Scott Sivard and his wife, Holly, of Bellevue, NE, three daughters, Michelle Sivard and David Jackman of Chicopee, MA, Melissa Moore and husband Jed of Phoenix, AZ, Sarah Sivard of Plattsmouth, NE, seven grandchildren, David Jackman, Jr., Hayden Sipmann, Mason Rose, Dawson Jackman, Sophie Jackman, Shelby Jackman, Harold Sivard III, mother, Beverly Sivard of Palmer, MA, two brothers, Duane Sivard and wife Melissa of Chicopee, MA, Daryl Sivard and wife Faye of Sedalia, MO, one sister, Cheryl Demers of Palmer, MA, plus a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.
Gene was proceeded in death by his father, Harold E Sivard, SR, two brothers, Kevin Sivard and Brian Sivard.
Funeral Service for Gene will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Roby Funeral Home, 10:00 am, with visitations, one hour before services.
Burial will take place at Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, Nebraska, with military rites by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Memorials in Gene's name may be directed to his Family, a suitable charity will be established at a later date.
